Child Care
Child care may or may not be an issue for you. If it is, its worth negotiating a solution both parents can live with. If both parents are working outside the home, these resources may be useful.
In San Francisco:
Children's Council of San Francisco
See Providers on the bar across the top. You can submit a referral request form online. Also, Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm, you can call 343-3300 to speak with a live counselor, who will make an appropriate referral for you. If you prefer, you can go in person to 445 Church Street between 16th and 17th Streets during those hours
In the San Francisco Bay Area:
Child Care Coordinating Council of San Mateo County
Services include: free resource and referrals, child care subsidies, food program assuring healthy meals and snacks for children, and family support services.
2121 South El Camino Real, Suite A-100
San Mateo CA 94403
650-655-6770

Parents' Place is part of Jewish Family and Childrens Services. It serves San Francisco, Marin and Sonoma counties, and the peninsula. From the home page, select Child Care Bulletin Board Home Page from the sidebar on the left. Take time to browse the listings under both Current Caregivers Wanted and Current Positions Wanted: it's worth the time to see whether you want to list here. If you do, youll have a better idea what to say.
Statewide:
CalWORKS (California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids)
The CalWORKs program replaced the program called Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFCD) in 1998. CalWORKS provides temporary financial assistance and employment focused services to families with minor children who have income and property below State maximum limits for their family size. Most able-bodied aided parents are also required to participate in the CalWORKs GAIN employment services program.
This one's a last resort.
